Memphis Sights and Carnival Delights at St. Jude Day of Play

What do delicious barbecue, rock ‘n’ roll, and St. Jude have in common? Well, for starters, you can find them all in Memphis, Tennessee! Our team at Bold Man and the Sea Media took our annual trip to Memphis to visit the kids at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a part of Carnival’s annual Day of Play event. And, this year’s Day of Play event, our team decided to go bigger than ever.

We’ve highlighted the Day of Play event before, but we’ve never truly taken in the surroundings of the event and everything else that takes place around it. Memphis is a one-of-a-kind city with unique sights that were just begging to be explored. Whether we were eating our way through Beale Street or stepping into the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll at Sun Records, we were grateful to capture footage of such a beautiful city.

This year, Carnival brought all of their cruise directors to Tennessee to host their yearly cruise director conference right beside the St. Jude Day of Play event. With so much charm and personality under one roof, we had to bring them into the fold! Thankfully, the one-and-only Matt Mitcham was more than happy to oblige and got in front of the camera as host of our Day of Play recap video.

To top it all off, Carnival was bringing their high in the sky ship, the Carnival Airship, to Memphis to fly over the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As we captured the Carnival Airship’s flight above St. Jude, we were surrounded by members of the press and media looking to get the inside scoop on the Airship’s ascent. That’s how you set our expectations sky high!

But at the end of the day, we were all there for one reason: the kids of St. Jude. It was fantastic seeing cruise directors, St. Jude staff, and other members of Carnival band together to offer the kids of St. Jude a wonderful day full of food, games, and dancing. No matter the year, the theme, or the surrounding events, nothing beats seeing the smiles on these kids faces at the St. Jude Day of Play.
